Our Web page is under construction as of June 2006. We have a number of exciting projects underway, and hope that you will visit us again soon. We promise that you'll see progress! The AHC is located on the 2nd floor of Chan Shun Library. The Adventist Heritage Center comprises the Archives and Special Collections of SWAU's Chan Shun Centennial Library. Collections include the University Archives (records of SWAU and its predecessors), the Rust-Carter Southwest Seventh-day Adventist Archives (many collections from individuals and organizations that contain photographs, documents, letters, and memorabilia), and a variety of collections of published and unpublished materials related to Seventh-day Adventism and to local history. In addition the archives and special collections include rare books donated by friends of the library. Library staff have begun to make these collections available to researchers. You will soon be able to search holdings records online, as well as our collection of historic photos and other images.
The mission of Chan Shun Library's Adventist Heritage Center is to gather the resources and provide the contemplative space in which patrons will be able to explore the experience of God's love and compassion for humanity. Our deepest hope is that those who come to the Heritage room and use these resources will find abundant evidence of God's presence. Affiliated with the AHC is SWAU's Ellen G. White - SDA Research Center, which houses published volumes and photocopies of unpublished works and manuscripts by Ellen White and other Adventist pioneers. Special provisions are in place for accessing the unpublished materials of Ellen White, which belong to the White Estate. The White - SDA Research Center is devoted to providing outreach and education about Adventist history. The Research Center staff is available and eager to give presentations about Adventist history and about Adventism in Texas and the Southwest.
