Library Services for Students
Southwestern Adventist University's library is your portal to a variety of resources aimed at helping you excel academically, grow spiritually, and enjoy reading. We are here to help you do the following tasks.
Study by Yourself or in Groups
We open the library during convenient hours for you. The library has both spaces for quiet study and areas for group work. Desktop computers on the first floor, a computer classroom, laptops, wireless Internet connection and photocopiers are also available. See the floor plans to locate the best place for your intended use of the facility. We encourage you to reserve facilities for group work.
Find Library Resources
We describe and classify resources so you can find them easily. Use the Library Catalog to search for materials in the collection and see the floor plans to find their physical location in the building. We also subscribe to journals and databases so you can have access to the best content both in print and electronically. If your professor has placed any materials on reserve, we keep them behind the front desk where you can request them. In addition, we prepare tagged web bookmarks so you can more readily find your way in the library and on the Internet. If we do not have what you are looking for, please contact a staff member so we can get it for you.
Ask a librarian if you need help conducting research. We can guide you in the process of choosing a topic, and finding, evaluating and citing sources. You can also use our online tutorials to guide you.
Borrow Books, and Other Materials
All students are automatically granted borrowing privileges. Just show your ID card at the front desk to check out materials. See the library's policy to learn about loan periods. You can also request materials from other libraries or we can issue you a card so you can borrow from other libraries directly. Sign in to your account to see what items you have taken on loan and to renew them.
